The USMNT losing to Belgium was heartbreaking.
Sure, sure the US “shouldn’t have even gotten that far” but that’s what makes it so much harder to swallow. Losing in the first rounds would have been tough but expecting. Getting that close, only to have it snatched away, is tough pill to swallow.
Unlike most countries, the US doesn’t take soccer losses too seriously. Every other sport, we riot like jackass, regardless of the outcome. A riot in the streets after the loss to Belgium would have been an odd site.
One man witnessed such an event. His normally quiet neighborhood erupted just moments after the final whistle. He was able to capture it all on video.
