‘Jersey Shore’ canceled, new season will be the show’s last
The show that popularized Snooki getting punched in the face will be coming to an end later this year, according to MTV.
The press release says that the sixth season of the show, slated to start airing October 4th, will be the show’s last. The celebration of the show’s history will begin with a special dedicated to its run before MTV’s flagship Video Music Awards on September 6th.
Following declining ratings and spinoffs for cast members Snooki, J-Woww, and Pauly D, MTV decided to preemptively cancel the show in order to ensure a proper send-off for America’s favorite tanning aficionados.
None of the cast members have commented on MTV’s decision to cancel the show. The last tweet from any of them came from new mom Snooki at 10AM Eastern time, saying:
In fairness, probably the most poignant remark she could have said.
