Japan is typically ahead of the curve when it comes to creating ridiculous food only the internet could love, but McDonald’s Japan is taking it old school with their “American Vintage” campaign. According to McD’s, Americans used to love mashed potatoes on our burgers. No word on if their new burgers come with Mega Fries.
The campaign will stretch across the 50s, 70s, and 80s, because apparently McDonald’s isn’t comfortable putting LCD into a burger. As for the 50s, I don’t remember Jack Rabbit Slims serving this mashed potato laden disgrace to the Le Big Mac. I certainly didn’t see it on the list of Top 10 Burger Toppings. Who am I to tell McDonald’s how to run their business though? I guess this is payback for Americans assuming Japanese people eat nothing but Spicy Tuna rolls and Teryaki chicken.
Diner Double Beef: 2 patties with onion, egg, mashed potatoes, and Chicago-style steak sauce.
Diner Honey Mustard: Fried chicken with bacon, cheddar cheese, lettuce, and honey mustard.
Classic Fries with Cheese: topped with fake bacon.
