New ‘Man Of Steel’ poster shows Superman arrested
Dude’s such a goody-goody suck-up that he wouldn’t even think about breaking those chains. There’s a lot of chatter going on right now about the upcoming DC cinematic universe – the comic book company is learning a lesson from their competition and connecting their films together in the hope of bigger box office numbers. The movie that’s supposed to kick all that off is Zack Snyder’s Man Of Steel, which reboots the Superman character with Henry Cavill in the lead role. Warner Brothers just released the poster above, which raises some questions.
The storyline replicates the plot of 1980’s Superman 2, with some villainous Kryptonians turning up to wreak havoc in Metropolis. You remember Zod, Ursa and Non, right? There’s no Non this time around (at least as far as we know), and the female villain is Faora now, but the plot is pretty similar. Hopefully the movie won’t spend too much time on the origin, which literally every human on Earth knows by now, and will get straight to the action. Superman is a hard character to get right – when you have a protagonist who can do just about anything, coming up with threats is a challenge.
So why is Supes in handcuffs here? There are a few military names in the character list, which makes me think that our hero will probably be brought in before the law to figure out what makes him tick. Because he’s a goody-goody who plays by the rules, this might put him out of action for long enough for Zod to get his swerve on. This is all speculation, mind you, but it makes a lot of sense. The new trailer for Man Of Steel will premiere with The Hobbit, so I’m sure we’ll learn a little more soon. Man Of Steel opens on June 14, 2013.
