The Super Bowl is just around the corner, which means it’s time to start stockpiling chips for your modestly attended party. To help you navigate the crowded store shelf, I arbitrarily re-ranked the 10 best selling potato chip brands. It’s my body, and I do what I want, so all flavors within the brand will be taken into consideration in the final ranking, not just the flagship.
10. Golden Flake Snack Foods
Golden Flake
This one comes in 10th by default because I’ve never heard of the Alabama brand let alone tried them. I assume the chips are delicious though because if there’s anything Alabama knows how to do, it’s get fat.
9. Wise Foods, Inc
Wise
Wise makes some great snacks, but their chips aren’t their strong suit. If this was a pork rinds list, they would be damn near the top.
8. Kellog Company
Pringles
These are possibly the most overrated chips in the game. Strip away the tennis ball can, absurd flavor concoctions, and Julius Pringles’ mustache, and you’re left with just a decent chip in the shape of half a duck bill.
7. Herr’s
Herr’s
While certainly not the most popular or well know, Herr’s makes a damn fine chip. They’re just the right combination of crunchy and greasy that will turn a snack into an addiction.
6. Snyder’s-Lance
Cape Cod
These almost moved higher up the list for being one of the few “healthy” chips that are actually pretty good. The have awesome flavors if you’re into spicy foods, too.
5. Kettle Foods
Kettle Brand
Kettle chips are all the rage, and few do it better than Kettle Brand. They’re super crunchy, use natural ingredients (for what that’s worth), and have awesome flavors like Death Valley Chipotle and Maple Bacon.
4. Popchips Inc
Popchips
If you want to go healthier with your snackage, Popchips is where you want to be. Their basic chips are pretty boring, but once you get into the flavors they’re damn good and don’t make you hate yourself for eating the whole bag.
3. Utz Quality Foods, Inc
Utz
Even if Utz didn’t make some of the best chips on the market, they would still get a boost up the list for producing Crab chips. Their ability to make something that sounds terrible taste delicious is well worth the #3 spot.
2. Frito-Lay Company
Lays
At the end of the day, I’m not eating potato chips to have a premium handcrafted artisan all-natural experience. I’m just trying to create a surpluss of regret through junk food. Lays are straight-forward, inexpensive, and get the job done.
1. Frito-Lay Company
Ruffles
I don’t know if you’ve heard, but Ruffles have ridges. That makes them the absolute best potato chip for dipping, and what’s the point of having a snack if you aren’t going to dunk it into another snack? This isn’t the JV chip team. This is the varsity eating squad.
