The games of New York Comic Con 2012 in a nutshell, part 1

by 5 years ago

The New York Comic Con is happening this weekend, and naturally, the focus is mostly on comics, toys, movies, and tv shows. But video games do have a presence at the show, and here’s what’s on-hand.

For starters, the one publisher that has the biggest presence is Capcom; pretty much all game related panels at the show are built around them, like the Street Fighter retrospective that took place yesterday afternoon. Where it was revealed that its distant cousin Darkstalkers might be getting a revival! Though it all depends if Darkstalkers Resurrection does well enough first…

Capcom was also showing off the revamp of Monster Hunter 3. Doesn’t look all that interesting to me (would have been better if the graphics had been updated instead of just being made clearer), plus the recently announced part 4 is simply the superior product. But hey, those on the Wii U being able to play with those on a 3DS certainly sounds cool…

Lost Planet 3 is also being heavily pushed. And what a coincidence; Capcom just released this nine minute long walkthrough with commentary…

Nintendo also has a sizable presence at the show, which is hardly a shocker, given that the Wii U comes out very soon. But nothing new has been announced, so instead, let’s take a look at its special version of Tekken Tag Tournament 2. Which aside from the Nintendo specific costumes and items, has the grand return of Tekken Ball…

Ubisoft has a huge booth as usual, with Just Dance making the most noise, as has been the case for years now. Somehow, have uncoordinated nerds trying to do the Macarena while the Frag Dolls cheer them on, in the most condescending manner possible, is something the NYCC supports. Anyway, they also have a theater erected for Assassin’s Creed 3; you have to wait in line for literally two hours to watch a demo, which I refuse. Am guessing it includes the following…

Microsoft also has a booth, with the star attraction being a huge multiplayer set-up for Halo 4. And thus we have yet another developer walkthrough…

Next week I’ll have part two, which will mostly center on Sony, with some hands on impressions!
