‘The Simpons’ and ‘Family Guy’ crossover preview is intriguing

Every fan base discusses the crossover.

The joining together, or possible battle, of different factions or worlds for one brief moment. What if the Justice League took on The Avengers? What if The Undertaker met Sting when both men were at the top of their game? How would the crew of the original Starship Enterprise gel with the cast of Star Trek: Voyager? The entire concept of Comic-Con was built on some of these debates.

Somewhere, people wondered what would happen in the family from Springfield ever crossed paths with the crew from Quahog. This weekend, fans got their answer in a five minute trailer to the cartoon episode fans never thought they’d see in this lifetime — the Simpsons and the Griffins come face-to-face.

Fans of both franchises knew this day was possibly on the horizon. Fox announced the crossover episode last summer. Many critics have called it “just another commercial gimmick.” And, yeah, what isn’t a commercial gimmick these days?

The Simpsons and Family Guy crossover episode preview debuted at Comic-Con this weekend. The clip below is a small sample of the hour-long episode that will air as the premiere of Family Guy 13th season in late September 2014.
