This guy is the Ndamukong Suh of Australian Rules football

Today I learned that you’re not allowed to choke another player during a match. That seems kind of harsh, no?

The following clip comes to us from the Australian Football League, in a game between North Melbourne and Hawthorn. After some up and down action, the cameras pan to two players wrestling with each other on the pitch. One gets the upper hand and begins to put a choke hold on the other—because that’s totally a normal thing that happens during a game.

“That’s a very aggressive headlock.” Uh, you think? That dude makes Ndamukong Suh look like a cherub.

The panel, armed with a medical report on Lake it sought from Hawthorn, deemed Petrie’s actions to have been negligent, low impact and high contact, triggering a 125-point penalty. A guilty plea would have cleared him to face the Saints but saddled him with 93.75 carry-over points, putting him on the brink of suspension for the next year.

I don’t speak Australian Rules Football but that sounds very Todd Bertuzzi-ish.
