Yachtsman Alex Thomson Pulls Of Mind-Bending Kiteboard Stunt From 280 Feet Above Water

Some of you bros may or may not have heard the name Alex Thomson before. For those who haven’t, the guy is as gnarly as they come, as he’s established himself as a daredevil in the sport of sailing, pulling off stunts that you or I would have nightmares about even trying.

Thomson’s latest stunt proves just how insane he is, as he strapped himself to the back of a sail boat and had it pull him at extreme speeds to pull off a kiteboard trick that saw him go about 280 feet in the air—which is as high as a freakin’ 25-story building!

Known as “The Skywalk,” Thomsen perfectly executed the death-defying feat, but then detached himself from the boat and expertly controlled his descent down to the water.

Showing that he’s an even bigger badass than any sailor out there, Alex Thomson’s planning to compete in this year’s Vendee Globe, too, which is a three-month, single-handed, round-the-world sailing competition that tests the physical and mental will of a person, as the competitor must sail non-stop and without assistance the entire time!

Founded in 1989, the Vendee Globe has been going on every four years since 1992, with only 100 people ever completing it, so, yeah, Thomsen sure does like to push himself to maximum limits.

With an appetite for the extraordinary, I’ve got a feeling Alex Thomsen’s going to be the 101st person to finish the Vendee Globe, doing so in style.
