Without question, the most powerful moment of this trailer for An Inconvenient Sequel: Truth to Power is Al Gore discussing the 9/11 Memorial. The first film, An Inconvenient Truth, was widely criticized for claiming that New York’s 9/11 Memorial would flood due to global warming. Years later, the rising waters and flooding caused by Hurricane Sandy did exactly that. It’s just one example of the dark path our planet is headed down due to global warming.
Now, what’s most frustrating about this film is how global warming has somehow become a politicized topic. The great thing about science is you can’t have an opinion on it. The data is there to back up science, and we know that temperatures across our planet are rising every single year. The hottest years on record, in order of #1-3, are 2016, 2015, and 2014. Three years in a row the ‘hottest year on record’ has been broken.
You might choose to not see An Inconvenient Sequel: Truth to Power. Maybe you never watched An Inconvenient Truth in the first place. But don’t fucking ignore science and choose to side with the less than 5% of ‘scientists’ who claim they’re still unconvinced that global warming is real, not when tiny changes in your life actually make a difference.
