When Barack Obama decided to run for president, he agreed to his wife’s demand that he quit smoking.
Which, yea, whip crack noise, but by all accounts, he has been cigarette-free since entering office. That’s pretty impressive, and also why this photo is causing a stir.
Taken by Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi’s spokesperson at the G7 Summit in Germany, it shows Obama out on a patio holding… well, that looks like a soft pack of cigarettes.
Is he smoking? Well, he is in Europe, where cigs are as ubiquitous as Starbucks cups are here. And he’s chilling with an Italian. Italians love a good smoke.
I’m gonna go with yes. And who cares? He’s on the downswing of his presidency. Light ’em up every day. Really kick back.
He’s earned it.
