Comedian Bill Burr is one of the funniest men alive, and it’s got a new trove of comedy fodder to work with because he and his wife had a baby last Friday.
Just three days after sitting in the delivery room with his wife, Bill Burr appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live last night to talk about the New England Patriots and how he believes everyone that’s not a Pats fan is insanely envious of Tom Brady. He also discussed, at length, those dads who tell their families they’re ‘going out for cigarettes’ and never come home, and how exhilarating that must be for the dad to know ultimate relief is just a few moments away as he’s walking out the door.
I’m sure Bill Burr and his wife are financially secure enough to support a child or several children. After all, he’s one of the most well-known stand-up comedians in the game right now. But, emotionally, it didn’t sound like Bill Burr was at all prepared to have a kid.
He had the same reaction to seeing his own kid for the first time that I have anytime I’m forced to hold a friend’s newborn. Kids are like aliens to me. I fully sympathize with Bill Burr’s reaction to seeing his kid in the delivery room and panicking because I’m not sure I’d react any differently.
