RHINO FIGHT!!! Black Rhino And White Rhino Fight It Out Over Territory In Extremely Rare Encounter

It’s extremely rare for a black rhinoceros and white rhino to encounter one another in the wild, and one of these ‘blue moon’ occurrences just went down in the Eastern Cape region of South Africa.

The white vs. black rhino fight was filmed by Wayne Howarth, a senior field guide in the region, and though he wasn’t able to capture the end of this once-in-a-lifetime fight, Wayne said the white rhino ended up winning this rhino fight. Even better, according to Barcroft the two rhinos parted ways with only a few minor scratches and no serious injuries.

What makes this such a rare occurrence is the two rhinos have very different diets, and thus their grazing lands are separated by vast stretches of land. There’s only a tiny sliver of land anywhere in the world where these two species might cross paths, and on top of that they’re both endangered species (though the Southern White Rhino subspecies is considered the most abundant of all the rhino subspecies in the world).

This is several thousand pounds of raw muscle and power coming to blows in the middle of Easter Cape, and it’s a borderline miracle that neither rhino was seriously injured in this fight.
