The Daily Mail is reporting that Cecil the lion’s brother Jericho has been shot dead on Saturday at the Hwange National Park in Zimbabwe.
The Zimbabwe Conservation Task Force announced the sad news on their Facebook:
BREAKING NEWS – JERICHO HAS BEEN SHOT TODAY AT 4pm –
It is with huge disgust and sadness that we have just been informed that Jericho, Cecil’s brother has been killed at 4pm today.We are absolutely heart broken.
We will update you all as soon as we have more details.
The premature death of Cecil the lion sparked worldwide outrage when they learned that his murderer was Dr. Walter Palmer, a dentist from Minnesota who paid $55,000 to kill the majestic animal. The trophy hunting of the iconic African lion was vehemently denounced by Jimmy Kimmel and Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Thankfully for Cecil’s offspring, his brother, Jericho, took over the pride and was keeping the cubs as well as lionesses safe from any male rivals or any other dangers for that matter. Now without Jericho’s protection the pride is in danger from competing prides and may move away.
