22-Year-Old Bro Cited By Cops For Playing ‘National Anthem’ Is Now Sticking It To The Man

Back at the beginning of July, we told you about 22-year-old Lane Pittman, the Jacksonville Bro who “played the ever-living shit out of ‘The Star-Spangled Banner’ as a crowd of nearly 200 people sang along and yearned for more.” He was detained and cited for the gesture when the Neptune Beach Police showed up, with the possibility of charges for “inciting a riot”– What a freedom-hating, anti-American BUZZKILL. Via News4Jax:

Pittman said the officers told him they wanted to charge him with inciting a riot and take him to jail to keep him overnight, but they didn’t have the resources to take him Downtown.

“That blows my mind, because it was peaceful up until the time they arrested me,” Pittman said.

Attorney Caleb Rowland is representing Pittman.

“I’ve never seen a law that says you can’t play the national anthem on a sidewalk,” Rowland said. “Disturbing the peace could be used to cover a lot of conducts that may not necessarily be criminal. I guess we’re going to have to wait and see what the state attorney decides to do with it.”

Pittman has no criminal record. He plays in his church’s band, is a high school lacrosse coach and is well-known in the beaches community. Pittman said he is hoping to be the next Jaxson de Ville.

The saga doesn’t end there. It’s now in the court’s hands. He was apparently just offered a diversionary plea deal, which Legal Insurrection says normally involves “community service after which the charges are dropped.” Pittman’s rejecting this offer on the grounds that he did nothing wrong.

Here’s a Facebook post he wrote following the deal:

UPDATE: just got out of court and they have decided to push back the situation to ANOTHER court date on Aug. 27th. During the time in between this, the State Attorney will decide to either file this or not. They gave me a diversion deal to where I could do a bunch of community service and the arrest goes away and I said no. To me, that is admitting guilt. I would be admitting a guilt that is nonexistent. Thank you everyone for the prayers and support! Praying God is glorified through all of this no matter what the outcome is!!

This Bro is the hero America needs right now. Paging Randy Marsh.
