Conor McGregor Suggests Floyd Mayweather Is Ducking Him, Is Currently Looking For Boxing Opponents

Conor McGregor sent shockwaves through the MMA and boxing community when it was revealed that the Irishman had registered for a boxing license in the state of California last week.

Floyd Mayweather’s manager, Leonard Ellenbe, squashed any talk of a super fight by saying that Floyd was in the Bahamas enjoying his retirement and proceeded to blast the UFC lightweight champion.

“He beat world champions over a 20-year period and here’s a guy, McGregor, who has about 20 fights and lost three of them, and three fights ago he was seen on the mat quitting,” “What are we talking about? … Floyd and I have nothing against UFC or any of their fighters. I respect all fighters who step in a ring or the Octagon, but Floyd is in the Bahamas enjoying life. He’s not thinking about Conor McGregor or anyone else.”

At Q&A event on Friday at The Devenish bar in Belfast, McGregor fired back at Ellerbe and Mayweather by suggesting the only reason the retired boxer is in the Bahamas is to avoid fighting him.

“I don’t give a fuck about Floyd, either,” “If you don’t want this fight, that’s no problem. Because other than the Manny Pacquiao numbers, other than the Floyd-Manny Pacquiao pay-per-view numbers, gate numbers, I hold all the numbers. So I don’t need Floyd. I do not need him.”

“F*ck Floyd’s manager,” “Tell him to come say it to me face. I’ve got the boxing license, now Floyd’s in the Bahamas. He was just there a minute ago and I get the boxing license and he’s gone.

“Look, Floyd is a phenomenal boxer. It’s a different craft for me to go into do this. But with correct preparation, if I took out my jiu-jitsu training, my wrestling training, my kickboxing training, if I took out all those different disciplines and focused with the work ethic I have solely on the sport of boxing, there’s no telling what I could do.”

“I would not go in there just to show up,” “I’d go in there to knock him out. And that’s it. He can be hit. He’s been hit before. Age waits for no man, also. so I know they know that. I know the size is only size. I know the reach is on my side. I know the youth is on my side. So there’s a lot to lose for them, that’s why they’re scrambling.”

I have reiterate that this is all a show. Conor McGregor’s contract with the UFC is probably airtight and it’s highly doubtful they’ll allow him to ever step into a boxing ring.
