On Saturday afternoon, a day of revelry for party people in Las Vegas got a little hotter than anyone anticipated when they showed up to The Cosmopolitan’s 14th floor rooftop club, Marquee. Twitter was set ablaze when news of a fire broke out, and to be honest, these pictures and videos are scary. This is the last thing that people expect to happen when showing up to have a good time at a rooftop establishment in the City of Sin.

“”

Fire burnin’ on the dance floor. Literally. Scary, scary stuff.

From a source on the ground, early rumors indicate the club was engulfed in flames after a patron on an upper-level balcony flicked a ciggarette butt haphasardly that happened to land on the Tiki bar, which aside from the liquor in the bottles, was probably the most flammable thing on the Marquee Club’s rooftop. Yikes.

In a not so funny coincidence, the social media app Foursquare happened to forward the message below to the same source mentioned above as The Cosmopolitan’s rooftop was being ravaged by flames.

Yeah, “It’s getting hot in here,” alright.

THANK GOD, there were no serious injuries, and Las Vegas fire authorities were able to get the blaze under control, and eventually extingused.

In unrelated news, this picture also came up in my Instagram search of pictures of the #Marquee fire.
