The Creator Of The ‘DAMN DANIEL’ Meme Just Had The SWAT Team Sent To His House After Someone Called In A Shooting

By now, you guys know of the uber-viral ‘Damn Daniel’ meme that as a curator of internet content, I’m required to detest even though I couldn’t stop saying it in the shower this morning. It’s kind of like admitting to liking Coldplay, it’s certainly not cool, but try listening to ‘Yellow’ and NOT think of your ex-girlfriend. That’s what I thought.

Regardless of my opinion, the meme has amassed almost 300,000 retweets on Twitter and 380,000 favorites, which is great news for the Daniel and the narrator of the meme who remains unnamed I believe. They must be king pins of their middle school. Respect.

But momentary internet fame loses its zest when a SWAT team shows up at your door at 1 AM responded to an suspected emergency. And that’s what allegedly what happened to the creator and voice of the ‘Damn Daniel’ meme.

According to TMZ,

The voice behind the viral “Damn Daniel” video fell victim to a prank Tuesday when someone called cops saying there’d been a shooting at his house.

Law enforcement tells TMZ they responded to a call around 1 AM to the Riverside, CA home after the caller said a boy had shot his mom in the head with an AK-47. However, it all turned out to be a hoax … officers cleared the scene and determined no one at the house was involved.

Ah, the pitfalls of being internet famous. Cherish this, young one. Cherish it. Next month there will be an equally pointless meme that becomes the biggest thing in pop culture for a few days. Hold onto the good and the bad.
