Dolphins Have Kinky Sex With Their Super Freaky Vaginas And Penises

I was under the impression that ducks had the strangest genitals in the animal kingdom with their corkscrew-shaped penises and vaginas (If you’ve never seen their bizarre genitalia, and are feeling bold, here’s a NSFW-y video on the sexual reproduction of ducks, which includes ballistic dicks). But it turns out that dolphins also have some rather outré fuck parts.

How dolphins bone is a mystery because scientists were not familiar the structure of a dolphin’s vagina. Most studies focus on the male’s penis because it’s much easier to see (Well, for most male specimens that is 👀). Researcher Dara Orbach has spent seven years studying dolphin vaginas (Stop laughing, like you’ve done something more productive over the last seven years). Maybe the Germans who discovered San Diego could have assisted Dana in her research of vaginas of mammals. Orbach, a postdoctoral fellow at Dalhousie University in Nova Scotia and research associate at Mount Holyoke College in Massachusetts, set out to finger just how dolphin vaginas work.

“While it may seem intuitive that the penis fits well into the vagina during copulation, the biomechanics and details of the anatomical fit can be quite complex and have seldom been explored,” says Orbach said in a statement. “Whales, dolphins and porpoises have unusual vaginal folds, spirals and recesses that the penis and sperm must navigate through to successfully fertilize the egg.”

Orbach made some crazy cetacean copulation discoveries and even made casts of dolphin vaginas in silicon. I gotta admit, that’s kinda weird. It’s cool when porn stars make silicon replications of their cooters, but dolphins?

The Washington Post has more intimate details about dolphins fucking:

Dolphin sex takes place under trying circumstances. The animals must properly connect despite ocean currents, and salty seawater, which is lethal to cetacean sperm, must be kept out of the uterus. What’s more, dolphins, porpoises and whales have vaginas with extremely unusual twists, folds and recesses — you might say they are kinky — that sperm must traverse to make a baby.

A saltwater-filled vagina is definitely a boner-killer.
