In the quest for 270 electoral votes to win the presidential election, one of the most critical states is Florida and it’s 29 electoral votes. The Sunshine state was nearly a must-win for Donald Trump in his march to the White House and the Republican presidential candidate was just declared the winner.
Originally Hillary Clinton could afford to lose Florida, but with Trump’s strong performance on election night she has become the underdog.
Trump had said himself that he needed to win Florida to win the election and he did just that.
In 2008 and 2012 Florida went Democrat, but the result was so close last time out that it was not confirmed until four days later.
Trump also won the 18 electoral votes when he took the important swing state of Ohio.
No Republican has won the presidential election without winning Ohio.
Trump also took the swing state of North Carolina and it’s 15 electoral votes.
