I Don’t Mean To Sound The Alarms, But This Report Says Your Name Could Be On An ISIS Kill List And You’d Never Know

According to reports this week from Fox News and the New York Post, your name (YES YOU) could appear on an ISIS kill list and you’d never even know it because of the bureaucracy involved in contacting private citizens regarding security risks. I find this particularly distressing given that I spend my weeks dumping all over Daesh here on BroBible, and though I’m certain our millions of monthly readers don’t count ‘ISIS‘ amongst them I do think that there’s a chance these guys have Google Alerts set up to receive notifications every time we take a steaming hot dump on their chest. And this is absolutely NOTHING compared to fear that relatives of active servicemen must feel.

The New York Post reports:

Americans who land on ISIS “hit lists” may never find out they have been marked for death by the terror group, said a key lawmaker Tuesday, as he called on the FBI to explain its obligations and procedures in contacting potential targets.
Several of the murky lists have appeared online, posted on various sites and social media platforms linked to ISIS. One list obtained by FoxNews.com Wednesday detailed 12,000 Canadian residents, along with their addresses and phone numbers. Even though the lists seem to be random and people named on them have not yet been targeted, law enforcement officials have notified many — but not all — of the individuals named.
“There shouldn’t be any question in the minds of FBI officials that Americans deserve to know if they are on an ISIS hit list,” Sen. Charles Grassley, R-Iowa, wrote in a Tuesday letter to FBI Director James Comey.

So that’s very troubling, very VERY troubling, but it gets worse:

Grassley, citing a Monday report by Circa News, said other police departments around the nation did not take similar action. Circa contacted dozens of people whose names appeared on the list in New York, Texas, Florida and California and found the overwhelming majority had no idea they were on ISIS’ radar.
“Reportedly, the FBI even neglected to notify the relevant local police departments of these specific threats, which urged followers of the terrorist group to assassinate American citizens,” Grassley said. “These alleged failures are alarming, given the FBI’s stated commitment to ‘work closely with federal, state, and local partners to keep the public informed of potential threats.’”
The FBI would not comment on the report, but issued a general statement about how it “routinely notifies individuals and organizations of potential threat information.”

So the FBI is not only failing to inform private citizens when they are on an ISIS kill list but they also don’t even bother telling the local law enforcement agencies when there’s an imminent threat danger? This seems about as fucked up of a policy as I can ever imagine. They’re putting the lives of private citizens at risk presumably because they 1) don’t want to compromise intel, 2) don’t want to scare the public, 3) can’t be bothered to follow up on leads, or 4) all of the above.

Thankfully there appears to be at least one politician, Stn. Charles Grassley of Iowa, who is looking after the safety of Americans (unlike the FBI). And the irony here is that if you were to looking ISIS kill lists to see if your name appears on them you’d most likely get flagged by government agencies for visiting red flagged websites…right? Damned if we do and damned if we don’t.
