CHALLENGE: Look At Photos From This Gory Bike Accident Where A Guy Got Cut Down To His Bone Without Laughing

Oh boy do we have a challenge for YOU guys today! I know you’ve seen like, what…500 bike accidents in your life? 600? 800? And each was funnier than the last, since there’s nothing more hilarious than seeing a dude on a bike get clipped and then pummeled to death by the tires of a speeding car. But…

BUT.

Can you look at this one, possibly the most hilariously hilarious bike accident to have ever occurred, without laughing?

Did you laugh? I hope not, because if you did then you failed the challenge. Go home you happy little dipstick, this is a serious post about serious things – JK it’s about bike accidents. LOL.

According to The Telegraph, the above gut-busting accident happened at the Paris-Roubaix race when Spanish cyclist Fran Ventosio fell off his bike and was sliced apart (tee hee) by the disc brake from the bike in front of him. In one of the accident photos posted to Facebook, Ventosio described what was possibly the funniest moment of his un-funny, bike accident-less life up until that point:

I’ve got to brake but I can’t avoid crashing against the rider in front of me. I didn’t actually fall down: it was only my leg touching the back of his bike. I keep riding.

Afterwards, I have a glance at that leg: it doesn’t hurt, there’s not a lot of blood covering it, but I can clearly see the membrane or surface that covers my tibia.

I get off my bike, throw myself against the right-hand side of the road over the grass, cover my face with my hands in shock and disbelief, start to feel sick…

… I’ve been lucky: I didn’t get my leg chopped off, it’s just some muscle and skin. But can you imagine that disk cutting a jugular or a femoral artery?(via)

Yes, in fact I can – and had it cut a jugular or femoral artery this would NOT be a laughing matter. Arterial assault is NOT a laughing matter unlike bone-protruding wounds inflicted by bikes, and therefore should NOT be looked upon lightly.

In light of the accident, the International Cycling Union has reportedly suspended the use of disc brakes, pending an investigation.
