This Is How Many Calories A Day It Took Mac From ‘It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia’ To Get Fat For Season 7

It wasn’t size pills that got Rob McElhenney to gain 50 pounds in preparation for season 7 of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, it was eating a shitload of food totaling up to what he says was 5,000 calories a day. Keep in mind that it only takes 3,500 to gain a pound, so at 5,000 a day minus whatever he burned by doing nothing all day, McElhenney was gaining at least a pound of fat every 1-2 days.

Gaining 50 pounds without a care in the world sounds like fun, but when you’re packing the weight on for a purpose and eating that much every day….yeah, not so much. Imagine eating until you’re full, then having to eat another three meals on top of that because you haven’t eaten enough to gain weight yet. You’re not allowed to barf, either.

Not so much fun now, is it?
