The annual National Beard & Moustache Championships were held in Brookyln over the weekend and Gothamist hung out with competitor Garey Faulkner to see just how long it takes to sculpt an award-worthy beard.

Faulkner’s backstory is that he first started growing his beard to raise money for charity and ended up becoming a competitive beard modeler with a major sponsorship. The timelapse video above shows Faulkner’s wife Miranda turning his facial hair into a work of art.
