Couple Trapped Inside Their Home By Giant ‘Aggressive’ Huntsman Spider Named Aragog

Australia is a continent full of terrifying creatures, and Huntsman Spiders rank amongst the scariest of all. Huntsman spiders are so large they look like they can eat your drunk aunt Sally’s tiny chihuahua, and they probably can because we’ve seen images over the years of them eating possums.

A couple from Mount Coolum in Queensland have gone viral after being trapped inside of their home while attempting to cook outside. They went to fire up the grill when they noticed a Huntsman spider on their sliding glass door. At first, the spider wasn’t much of a problem, but as they inched closer to the door they spider apparently became aggressive and showed signs of hostility. Before they knew what’d happened, the couple was trapped inside of their own home by the Huntsman Spider they’d eventually name ‘Aragog’, an homage to Hagrid’s car-sized spider in Harry Potter:

The couple filmed a clip of the massive Huntsman Spider that has since taken off like wildfire on Facebook:

Obviously, this Aragog isn’t as big as the Aragog in Harry Potter. But, it’s certainly as large as some of Aragog’s babies that were larger than seagulls. This is a MASSIVE spider.

I often day dream about how it’d be badass to live in Australia for 5 or so years. Take in the continent. Spend some time on the Great Barrier Reef. Catch my first Black Marlin. Try to not get eaten by Crocs as I fish the inland waters. But then I see shit like this spider. Spiders, unfortunately, are the one species that freak me the fuck out. I’ve got zero problems with snakes. Crocs and gators don’t phase me. Spiders, though, that’s how you lose a leg to necrosis and that shit isn’t growing back. (h/t LadBible)
