Jon Jones, former two-time UFC Light Heavyweight Champion, has his hands quite full right now as he preps for his fight against (and trades insults with) current Champion Daniel Cormier this weekend at UFC 214, but he’s already looking ahead.

On Tuesday, in a Facebook Live chat, Jones said that he “would love to” fight former UFC Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar at some point down the road.

“I would love to fight Brock Lesnar,” Jones said in response to a fan’s question. “He’s a massive dude, it would be a massive draw. Really big for the sport. It would be a great challenge. That’s a big, old boy. I doubt Brock Lesnar would take that fight, though.”

Not so fast, Jon.

When the Associated Press got wind of Jones’ statement they reached out to the 40-year-old Lesnar to see what he thought of Jones’ proposal.

“Would I fight Jon Jones? Anytime, anywhere,” Lesnar said. “Right now he should be worried about D.C. on Saturday night.”

Lesnar, the current WWE Universal champion, won’t be able to do so anytime soon however. Despite rumors that he has re-entered the USADA testing pool, he has not. Plus, if and when he does, Lesnar will still have more than six months left on his suspension.

That, timeline, however, works out quite well should Lesnar decide to do follow through and return to fight Jones as his contract with the WWE comes to an end in 2018.

Jones, who has never fought a heavyweight, especially one like Lesnar, does have some idea of how he would approach a fight like that, saying, “I definitely wouldn’t try to wrestle with him the whole time. I’m not going to tell you what I would do.”

A lot of people would certainly pay some very big money to find out, but will it ever really happen? Never say never.
