Welp, this is a new one. It seems like every time we think we’ve heard everything there is to hear about a teacher-student sex scandal something new pops up.

For today’s lesson in WTF, we travel to Bucks County, Pennsylvania and meet teacher Erica Ann Ginnetti. Ginnetti was arrested three months ago for allegedly having sex with a 17 year-old student and sending him explicit text messages including bikini and thong pictures and videos, including one of her reportedly doing a striptease.

For some reason the student’s classmates got wind of this and boom, arrested. Go figure.

This was not the video in question, but rather one of Erica Ann Ginnetti dancing during a function at Lower Moreland High School. Totally relevant.

At her sentencing hearing last Friday, Ginnetti cried in court while reading a letter of apology. The judge then compared explicit photos of the woman to “dangling candy” in front of her victim, the Bucks County Courier Times reports.

“What young man would not jump on that candy?” [Judge] Page said.

Ginnetti now works at a gym as a fitness instructor. She said in court that she regularly volunteers at her church, and is rebuilding her relationship with her husband and three children.

“I don’t believe you’re a bad human being,” Page told Ginnetti. “You did a bad act. So I have to punish you.”

Despite the maximum sentence for her crimes being seven to 14 years, the judge ordered Ginnetti to serve 30 days in jail and register as a sex offender. Which proves once again, that in these teacher-student sex cases, there really is little rhyme or reason as to what punishments are being handed down.
