Here Are The 10 Least Attractive Phrases Used In Online Dating — So Delete From Your Profile Immediately

No one is claiming that penning an online dating profile is easy. It’s tough. It’s like writing your own obit except in this case you’re trying to convince women to go on a date with your dead carcass.

Because most online profiles are written by regular people and not professional writers (such as yours truly) there tends to be a ton of copy and pasting going on. “Oh, that’s a good line. I’m putting it in my profile. No one will notice it’s from a Nicholas Sparks movie. Who the fuck has ever watched Nights in Rodanthe anyway?”

The dating website OnMutualTerms.com was curious about how the things people say in their profile were screwing up their chances at finding a match. So they analyzed the least popular profiles and then scrutinized what those profiles had in common. The OMT team then dissected those profiles to see what phrases were common to those profiles. Basically, their thesis was “what dumb shit are these people saying that’s keeping them dateless?”

Here are the phrases people use the most that are probably keeping them from getting dates.

“Over the bar scene.”

“Too busy to meet someone.”

“I can’t believe I’m online dating.”

“Looking for The One.”

“Tired of games.”

“Moonlit walks on the beach.”

“I live life to the fullest.”

“Want to be swept off my feet.”

“I work hard and play hard.”

“I want the total package.”

Just typing those out made me cringe. If you have any of those phrases in your profile, or shit forbid more than one, delete them immediately and consider a complete overhaul of your online dating profile. Dump gas on your monitor and light it on fire. Start from scratch.
