I love magic. I think it’s so cool. When I was at my last job at a lobbying firm for DC, they asked me to plan our holiday party. Our CFO wanted something non-traditional — hence why I was in charge — and gave me an initial budget of $6,000.
After my idea of bringing a petting zoo to the office got nixed, I came up with an even better plan. I booked the best street magician in DC. He cost $5,000 for a two-hour performance, and I had to go back to our CFO and tell him I blew his whole budget on a magician and didn’t even have a venue yet.
Anyway, he gave me a bump (WOOT Corporate America) and I booked a haunted house with an open bar for the magic show. Everyone agreed it was the best holiday party they’d ever been to. Because everyone loves magic.
