Man Allegedly Choked His Fiancée For Having The Gall To Say IndyCar Was Better Than NASCAR

As a person who worked in the racing industry for awhile I know firsthand that racing fans can be a bit… overzealous… when it comes to their allegiances. And that apparently also applies to whether or not you’re a NASCAR fan or an IndyCar fan. Even if you’re almost married to that person.

Now you’d think a guy who lives in Indiana would be all about Juan Pablo Montoya winning the Indy 500 this past Memorial Day weekend, but whoa boy, you would be wrong in 57-year-old David Wilson’s case.

According to WRTV

Wilson’s fiancée told police they had been drinking all day. She said Wilson became angered when he heard her and another person talking about IndyCar being better than NASCAR.

Wilson told police he was in the kitchen making dinner when he heard his fiancée and another person “talking trash about NASCAR.” He said he yelled into the room at both of them, but denied a physical altercation taking place.

I wonder if they had been drinking all day because (1) it was Memorial Day weekend, (2) it was race Sunday, or (3) they were awake. My guess is all three apply here.

Wilson also said that he was “extremely upset” that no one would help him with the household work.

Ah, it all totally makes sense now.
