Americans Have Already Drank So Many Coronas That Mexico Is Experiencing A Drought And July 4th Started 12 Hours Ago

Nothing says America like one of our national holidays negatively impacting other countries that are less fortunate than us. That’s American through and through. Why? Because we’re the greatest country in the world. If planet Earth was the universe, America would be the goddamn sun with everyone else revolving around and relying on us to survive. America giveth and America taketh away. Which, in the case of certain Mexican cities, we’ve taketh away big time.

Via Daily Mail:

“A brewery in Mexico has been extracting so much water from wells to make beers, including Corona, that a municipality is suffering from drought.

The situation in the city of Zaragoza in Nava, Coahuila, is so severe that its mayor, Leonicio Martinez Sanchez, wrote a single-sentence letter to state governor Ruben Moreira which said: ‘We have no water for human consumption.’ U.S. firm Constellation Brands, which operates the brewery, draws 1,200 liters of water per second from wells drilled to a depth of 500 meters (1,640 feet). Plans to step up production at the facility would only make the situation worse, Martinez told the Guardian.

‘It’s contradictory that while Constellation Brands has industrial amounts of water to make beer, the municipality of Zaragoza doesn’t have 100 litres [per second of water] to give people to drink or use in their homes,’ he added. Sanchez said the wells are about 12 miles from the municipal seat, giving rise to the severe water shortages. Constellation, which owns Corona, Negra Modelo and Pacifico beers, lies 28 miles south of Texas and demand for its beer remains strong in America.

It also exports its products, which include wine and spirits, to Canada, New Zealand and Italy. The company acquired a glass production plant in Nava from Anheuser-Busch InBev in 2014 for around $300million – providing bottles for Constellation’s adjacent Nava Brewery. And in January, the company announced plans to build a state-of-the-art brewery in Mexicali, Mexico, near California.”

U-S-A!! U-S-A!! First of all, I never knew that you had to put water in beer. If that’s true, how come people always say that you should drink water and hydrate when having beer? There’s water in the beer. That seems a tad redundant. Also, does this information make me feel that maybe I should stop drinking Coronas like a tipsy white mom at a barbecue and stick with Bud Light? Absolutely not. These cities committed to supplying us with Coronas. It’s their cross to bear, not mine. If I moved to a city that made porno mags, I wouldn’t be too shocked when we ran out of trees and, in turn, relatively clean oxygen. It’s America’s world and everyone else is just living in it. So drink up this weekend, bros. We deserve this.
