A Michigan DA Who Prosecuted The Heck Out Of Prostitutes For A Decade Was Just Busted For Buying Hundreds Of Hookers

Stuart Dunnings III is the top prosecutor for Ingham County, Michigan. In his 20 years serving that position, he earned a reputation as “an outspoken advocate for ending human trafficking and prostitution.”

One way to help put an end to prostitution is by putting offenders in jail, be it johns, pimps, or girls. Dunning did that, becoming known for his aggressive prosecution of offenders of these crimes.

Another way to help is by not engaging the services of a prostitute.

Dunnings, uhhh, did not do that. No, over the past five years, he’s bought hundreds of prostitutes. At least according to authorities who arrested him on Monday.

Now, he’s facing “10 counts of engaging in the services of prostitutes,” charges that could put him in jail for 20 years, jail where lots of people he prosecuted are now.

Talk about a twist.

He apparently loved the sex workers. From The Washington Post:

He met most of the sex workers online. Over time, he became increasingly involved with them, taking them to dinner, paying their bills, buying them groceries, and even revealing his identity as a prosecutor, according to the arrest affidavit.

He paid one woman’s YMCA membership and spent $80 a week for methodone treatments for her heroin addiction, the affidavit states.

Dunnings also shared a prostitute with his brother, Steven Dunnings, a Lansing attorney who is facing two charges of engaging in the services of a prostitute, according to the affidavit.

Weird. After a year long investigation, stemming from “chatter” about Dunnings’ behavior, authorities pounced.

He was released on bail after being booked.

Hey, maybe don’t be a hypocrite? Hypocrite or not, though, he still has his job, although officials are calling for his resignation.
