Nominees For Worst Parents Of The Year Arrested After Abandoning 2-Year-Old To Play Pokémon Go

I like to believe that every time a website writes an article about Pokémon Go, an Angel gets its wings. At least then something good would have come out of all the hours people have wasted on this game. The latest example of Pokemón Go bringing the worst out of people comes from Arizona, where Brianne and Brent Daley were arrested for leaving their two-year-old child outside of their home without any clothing.

According to The Record,

Authorities found three dogs when they searched the San Tan Valley home, but they didn’t find the child’s parents, according to the release. Eventually, though, deputies located a telephone number for the man they thought was the child’s father.

“When they called and told him his child was found abandoned,” he replied, ‘Whatever’, and hung up on the deputies,” the release stated.

The boy’s parents, 27-year-old Brent Daley and Brianne Daley, 25, were arrested on charges of child endangerment and child neglect after the incident, which occurred late last month. The couple told authorities that they left the toddler alone while they were playing Pokemon Go, authorities say.

I don’t understand how parents could value a glorified ‘Tamagotchi’ over the life of their child. Also, I think it should be noted that hanging up on the police and responding apathetically is never a good idea. Cops don’t give a crap that you almost caught a Pikachu. These two are sure gonna be bummed when they discover that there are no Pokestops within walking range of jail.
