You Won’t Believe How Many People Love Their Dogs More Than Their Partner (Yes You Will)

A person and their dog have a special bond. And that’s because dogs are awesome. Something we cannot always say about human beings. So when PoochPerks.com decided to do a survey of 1,000 dog owners to rate the importance of their dog versus their partner the results weren’t terribly surprising.

When asked to rank on a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being completely devastated, how bad it would be if their dog ran away, the dog owners ranked that at 9.1.

When asked to rank using the same scale how bad it would be if they broke up with their partner, they gave that an 8.8 ranking.

“Our dogs are more than just pets. They are companions who provide emotional support and joy in our lives — much in the way a spouse is meant to,” Tina Vidal, president and pack leader at Pooch Perks, said in a news release. “So the fact that so many Americans would choose their dog over their partner may not come as a surprise to those of us who would do anything for our pup.”

The survey also discovered that 38 percent of the respondents love their dog more than their partner and 71 percent said there would be relationship problems if their partner didn’t get along with the dog.

Does any of this surprise anyone?

Now where’s my good boy?!?!
