A MASSIVE 5-Alarm Fire Burned 10 Buildings In Raleigh Last Night With Sky High Flames

A truly massive and devastating fire hit downtown Raleigh, N.C. last night and torched 10 buildings. We don’t often see fires this large in the middle of cities. Not even in cities like New York or Boston where traffic makes it difficult for firefighters to get to the flames in a hurry.

The ENORMOUS 5-alarm fire began at an apartment building under construction, and sparks spread to surrounding areas, but not before engulfing the entire construction site in flames. Cars were exploding on the top deck of one of the buildings engulfed by flames, and it took three hours and 130 firefighters to contain the flames.

This all took place late last night while most of us were glued to our TV sets during the later March Madness games.

Miraculously, the only reported injury sustained from this fire was a local fireman who was hit by falling glass. No local citizens were hurt, or at least there aren’t any reports of those injuries yet.

In total, 10 buildings throughout downtown Raleigh were affected by the 5-alarm fire. Amongst the 10 buildings hit by the flames, five of those buildings are reported to have suffered severe damage. A large construction crane was also taken down by the massive flames.

Footage of the insane fire began to circulate across the Internet quickly last night with most people in complete disbelief that a fire this massive could be tearing up downtown Raleigh:

It’s a legitimate miracle that only one person was injured by this fire.

According to ABC News, one building sustained 17 floors of damage and another sustained 5 floors of fire damage. It’s hard to overstate just how devastating this fire truly was, but you can see more footage fo the fire over on ABCNews.com.
