Rick Ross Buys Back The Block, Starting With His Hometown Checkers

Before the purple Lamborghinis. Before the Aston Martins. Before the Maybachs. Before he founded the record label Maybach Music Group. Rick Ross was William Leonard Roberts II AKA “Big Will.” Rick Ross ascent to stardom began in Carol City, a neighborhood in Miami Gardens.

“Coming from the inner city, you felt somewhat of an underdog,” Ross says, something he’s proud to be.

Rick Ross grew up in Carol City, where he worked at the local car wash and could always be seen at Checkers eating his favorite meal.

Ross, who is self-made (you just affiliated), is not only an award-winning producer but also a businessman. He is now in a financial position to have whatever he wants, and he wanted a Checkers — the very same Checkers that he used to eat at after his high school football games with his teammates. Ross bought the Checkers in his old stomping grounds so he could give back to the community, and provide jobs to people in his hometown. It’s his favorite spot to go eat because his true friends are “all genuine, it’s all love.”

Now Rick Ross is actually the boss, because he bought back the block.
