Russian Government Hackers Breach Democratic National Committee Database To Steal Info About Donald Trump

Russian government hackers breached the Democratic National Committee computer network and gained access to information on Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump. The hackers “thoroughly compromised the DNC’s system,” which included internal emails and chat traffic.

The Washington Post reported the news of the data penetration by two groups of hackers, both of which are linked to Russia. The breach first occurred last summer and maintained access to the database as recently as April. Nearly a year? You got hacked for nearly a year? You need some Norton AntiVirus 2016‎ in your life.

The Washington Post details the hack that “gained access to the entire database of opposition research on GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump.”

The intrusions are an example of Russia’s interest in the U.S. political system and its desire to understand the policies, strengths and weaknesses of a potential future president — much as American spies gather similar information on foreign candidates and leaders.

The depth of the penetration reflects the skill and determination of the United States’ top cyber adversary as Russia goes after strategic targets, from the White House and State Department to political campaign organizations.

There is no truth to the rumors that the DNC labeled the files for Donald Trump as “Huge Orange Blowfish,” which made it easy for the hackers to find.

“The security of our system is critical to our operation and to the confidence of the campaigns and state parties we work with,” Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D., Fla.), the DNC chairwoman, told the Washington Post. “When we discovered the intrusion, we treated this like the serious incident it is and reached out to CrowdStrike immediately. Our team moved as quickly as possible to kick out the intruders and secure our network.”

The FBI notified the Democratic National Committee of the breach in April. Within 24 hours of the alert, CrowdStrike installed monitoring software on the DNC’s computers to investigate the hacks. Seems too little, too late.

“We deployed certain pieces of technology that we use to try to get some visibility into the extent, the depth and breadth of this particular breach. In the course of this, working very closely with the I.T. staff of the DNC, we were able to identify with a very high degree of confidence a group that we have attributed back to the Russian government targeting that DNC network,” Shawn Henry, the president of CrowdStrike, told MSNBC on Tuesday.

Despite having access to the entire DNC database, the attackers did not steal any financial or personal donor information. This major detail leads investigators to believe the attack was motivated by espionage rather than fraud.

A Russian Embassy spokesman said he had no knowledge of such intrusions.

I thought Trump and Vladimir Putin were boys? Unless Putin steals the DNC’s playbook and hands it over to Trump.

CONSPIRACY THEORY!

FALSE FLAG OPERATION!

I’m not sure how valuable the sensitive intelligence that Trump likes taco bowls and hot chicks will serve anyone.

But if those hackers get to the bottom of Trump’s hair please release that pertinent information.

Where did the DNC keep their server? Hillary’s bathroom?

Speaking of Hillary, her server scandal won’t go away.

Wikileaks co-founder Julian Assange stated that his whistleblower website will publish emails from Hillary Clinton’s private server that he believes has enough evidence to indict the former Secretary of State.

Wikileaks has already leaked 32,000 emails from the Democratic presidential nominee’s private server.

I still want the truth behind Trump’s hair.
