The Owner Of Sam Adams Beer Is Totally Cool With His Employees Telling Him To ‘Go F*ck Himself’

As a rule of thumb, it’s generally unwise to tell your boss to go fuck themselves. They write a paycheck that your life is dependent upon, so therefore they deserve the utmost respect from you, their employee. Those formalities are not such a big deal for Samuel Adams beer creator Jim Koch.

Koch — a self made brewing billionaire — explains that he has something called the “Fuck You Rule” in his company. An employee can tell him to go fuck himself as long as they explain why they said that, along with “what they did to make you feel in that special F.U. frame of mind and then be willing to listen to their side of the story,” as he explains to Business Insider above.  Here’s his management philosophy with the so-called “fuck you rule,” via Huff Po:

“If you get that out on the table and you do it in a respectful way of each listening to other, then you can resolve the problem. But if you never put it out on the table, the problem just festers, gets worse and causes other problems.”

Gotta love a work place where honesty really is the best policy. Seems way more productive than just pent up rage about a problem.
