I’m So Excited, I Just Can’t Hide It: There’s A ‘Saved By The Bell’ Restaurant

Hey, hey, hey, HEY, HEY! What is going on here? Oh not much, just the raddest restaurant that is decorated like the hangout spot, The Max, from Saved by the Bell!

Be like Zach Morris, Kelly Kapowski, Lisa Turtle, A.C. Slater, Jessie Spano and Samuel “Screech” Powers and chill out at this pop-up restaurant in Chicago’s Wicker Park neighborhood. The diner, aptly named “Saved By the Max” is decorated in plenty of bright colors and kitschy 90s furnishings where even preppies can bring their favorite mama to grab a milkshake. There is Bayside Tigers memorabilia plastered all over the walls and even Zack’s DJ booth in one corner. There’s a payphone and the number is 1-900-CRUSHED, Zack’s advice line.

From Vogue:

In keeping with the immersive experience, staff will be dressed in the signature uniform—red T-shirt paired with black shorts or slacks plus a matching apron—and will answer to either “Max” or “Kelly.” Ed Alonzo will reprise the role of namesake magician-owner of The Max and is set to perform magic tricks for the grand opening—just one in the series of late-night Bayside After Dark special events scheduled. Others include Tuesday Saved by the Bell trivia challenges and Sunday performances from the diner’s in-house band, The Zack Attack.

OMG! There’s so many activities! I think I need a caffeine pill just to keep up.

Even AC Slater is so excited!

Chow down on AC Sliders, Preppy BLT, Macaroni & Screech, Belding Fries, Miss Bliss Candied Bacon and a Lisa Turtle Milkshake. The SBTB-themed fare was created by Michelin-star chef Brian Fisher. A $35 advance ticket will get you an appetizer, entree and dessert.

However, dinner tickets are sold out through August, with limited walk-ins for dinner accepted. Late night service and weekend brunch will be walk-ins only.

“After just one meeting I knew that this space was perfect for us,” Derek Berry, Saved by The Max’s founder, said. “We needed a place that would allow fans to feel as if they’ve been transported back to Bayside and are fully immersed in the universe of the show.”

The Saved by the Max pop-up diner will be open until August 31. For more information, visit SavedByTheMax.com.
