Several Firefighters Injured Helping Campbellsville University Band Do ALS Ice Bucket Challenge

Well, this sucks.

According to Eric Johnson with Supporting Heroes, an organization that provides support to surviving family members after emergency responders are injured or killed in the line of duty, three firefighters were injured. Two of them were transported. At least one of the firefighters was flown to University of Louisville Hospital with serious injuries.

The incident happened around noon EST near Chandler Avenue and Spring Street, right outside the university’s football and baseball facilities.

Sources say the incident happened when the fire truck’s aerial basket touched power lines. Power was reported out across a wide portion of the Campbellsville area, but was being restored slowly. According to a spokesperson for LG&E-KU, 4,500 customers were without power shortly after noon.

Sometimes life just isn’t fair. A group gets together for a good cause and people get hurt. Just ain’t right.
As you can see, details are still coming in on the severity of the incident. Let’s hope future reports bring good news.
