Shooting Leaves 2 Dead, At Least 17 Injured On ‘Teen Night’ At Nightclub In Fort Myers, Florida

Another day, another senseless act of violence. This time, the shooting was at a night club in Fort Myers, Florida where two people were shot dead and there at least 17 injured. Around 12:30 a.m. early Monday morning, gunshots rang out in the parking lot of Club Blu following “Teen Night’ that featured a “Swimsuit Glow Party” at the nightclub.

From WINK News:

Witnesses describe the moments outside the club as a “mad house.” People poured out of the nightclub, a witness said. One woman who lives two blocks from Club Blu said she heard about 30 gunshots from what she believes to have been multiple guns.

“It was a young teen event. There were kids. The kid I was holding in my lap, he was 14 years old that got shot,” witness Tatianna Nouhaioi told ABC News.

Lee County Sheriff’s Office’s Lt. Jim Mulligan told CBS affiliate WINK News that as many as 17 people had been injured in the horrific attack. The victims range in age from as young as 12-years-old to 27-years-old. One of the victims is in critical condition and another is described as being in a “serious” condition. Four people remain at the Lee Memorial Hospital.

Among the injured victims is Timothy Settles. On Sunday night, he posted on his Facebook how excited he was to go to the nightclub.

Then a mere eight hours later he sent this chilling message.

That was followed by a four-second Facebook Live broadcast from a hospital bed.

The nightclub, which usually closes at 11 p.m., has responded to the tragic events on their Facebook page with a rather abrasive post.

By 5:30 a.m. at least three suspects were detained.

Before detaining the trio, authorities said the Fort Myers Police Department and Lee County Sheriff’s Office were “actively canvassing the area looking for other persons who may be involved in this incident.”

Detectives have yet to determine a motive.
