Disappointingly, But Perhaps Not Unsurprisingly, Smoking Hookah Is Really Bad For Your Lungs

Just the other day, I was walking past a hookah bar and thought how much I missed it. I wasn’t ever a dedicated hookah user, but me and my buddies would, at least twice a year, hit up one and hookah our faces off. I haven’t done it in forever and I resolved to hookah more in 2016. It’s fun. Flavored tobacco, good buzz, chill times. Nothing bad about it whatsoever.

Well, except that new research shows just how awful inhaling unfiltered tobacco smoke deep into your lungs is for you.

It’s real bad.

One hookah tobacco smoking session has been found to deliver 25 times the tar of a single cigarette, according to a new study.

Furthermore, it delivers 125 times the smoke, 2.5 times the nicotine and 10 times the carbon monoxide.

Two point five times the nicotine sounds dope, that’s a hell of a high, but the rest is not nearly as good. One sesh is more than a pack of smokes. Doing it occasionally probably isn’t that bad, although if someone said, I occasionally smoke an entire pack of cigs, I would call that a problem.

I thought because it was classy it couldn’t harm you. Guess not. I’m still gonna do it, even though this news is already making the squares ballyhoo it.

Lead author Dr Brian Primack, of the University of Pittsburgh, said: ‘Our results show that hookah tobacco smoking poses real health concerns and that it should be monitored more closely than it is currently.’

He said: ‘For example, hookah smoking was not included in the 2015 Youth Risk Behavior Surveillance Survey System questionnaire, which assesses cigarette smoking, chewing tobacco, electronic cigarettes and many other forms of substance abuse.’

Pffft wanking motion. Hookah all you want Bros, it ain’t gonna kill you.*

*Probably will not.
