A bomb squad had to be called out in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania after a man, Aaron Stein, allegedly robbed a PNC Bank by telling employees there that he had a bomb and made off with an undisclosed amount of cash.

One problem though: he didn’t have a bomb. What he did have was a vibrator covered in duct tape attached to some wires.

He did, however, manage to make a few miles before police caught up with him after closing portions of the local Interstate.

“He stated he had a bomb, showed the teller wires hanging out from his shirt and demanded cash,” Crafton Police Chief Mark Sumpter said.

Osborne reported that Robinson Township police were the first to spot the white Toyota and pulled it over.

“(The officers) had noticed that there was money underneath in a garbage bag of money,” Robinson Police Chief Mike Gastgeb said.

Police said underneath the front passenger seat was the device he allegedly used in the bank robbery.

“(It was) a makeshift box he made out of a box, black tape, vibrator and cellphone,” Sumpter said.

Taking no chances, the police used a robot to blow up his vibrator “bomb” anyway.

So what would cause a man to take such drastic measures? According to court papers, he “lost all of his money in the stock market last week and that he was desperate.”

So close.
