Racing speed boats through tight canyons is a favorite pastime of adrenaline junkies. I typically associate this type of boating with New Zealand, but this incident actually took place on the Salmon River in Idaho.
The driver came in too hot, clipped the rocks, and that’s when all hell broke loose. They went over the rocks and flipped the speed boat upside down while attempting to shoot the rapids or some shit like that. I’m not entirely sure because I can’t see below the rapids to know if that’s where they were headed or if they were planning on turning around in the rapids.
When the boat flipped you can hear everyone on the riverbanks freaking the fuck out, and rightfully so. Thankfully for the people who were in the boat just moments ago, they found themselves in a slow moving eddy and weren’t immediately swept off into the river rapids and forced to push off rocks while holding onto a frickin’ boat.
Is it wrong that the main thing I took away from this clip is that I really need to get to Idaho soon? Not just for activities like this, but for catching some glorious trout.
