Taiwanese Families Betting on When Family Members Will Die is the New Hotness

Families of terminally ill patients are making bets to predict the date their relatives will die.

The punters are wagering on a macabre game which has sprung up in Taiwan.

According to China Press, senior citizens' clubs have set up more than 10 gaming houses in Taizhong City as the bizarre trend has taken off.

I am all for wagering. I bet on every major and minor sport and on what Andy Moore’s brown-bag lunch contains. But it takes an extremely messed-up individual to throw down speculation on when a loved one will die.

After all, rooting for death is worse than rooting for the Dallas Cowboys, Notre Dame and the Los Angeles Lakers concurrently. But just barely.
