A Man In Texas Was Given 50 Years In Prison After Racking Up His Sixth DUI Since 1990

By the time Ronnie Paul Hobgood gets out of jail, the likelihood that he’ll get another DUI will be slim to none.

That’s because it’ll be sometime in 2065 and by then, he’ll be 95 and we’ll hopefully have self-driving cars and shit.

Either way, the streets should be safe in Texas for the next 50 years, after the 45-year-old Hobgood agreed to that prison sentence after recording his sixth DUI.

He’s earned it, with quite the terrible drunk driving rap sheet.

In this most recent one, he blew a .27 and hit a parked car, drove away, hopped a curb, and hit another car.

His previous two landed him in prison. His fourth DUI resulted in a manslaughter conviction, where he served 16 years, and his fifth sent him back to jail for violating his parole.

The prosecutor in this case, Brittany Litaker, told The Washington Post she was satisfied that this lengthy sentence would ensure safer roads.

“This is a person who — anytime he’s not in custody — is drinking and driving and putting everyone at risk. The only thing you can do with somebody like that is to get them out of our community so they can’t hurt anybody else again.”

“In Montgomery County we don’t mess around with people who are dangerous like that,” she added. “We’re going to get them off the road.”

Amazingly, Hobgood’s number of DUIs and sentence length aren’t even records in Texas. Donald Middleton, after his 9th DUI, got life in prison.
