‘The Simpsons’ Accurately Predicted A Republican Presidential Candidate Would Make A Tremendous Flip Flop On Abortion One Day

First, thanks to Tim Donnelly of Brokelyn for making this fantastic comparison.

In the third skit in The Simpsons Treehouse of Horrors VII, popular aliens Kang and Kudos inhabit the bodies of Bob Dole and Bill Clinton, ensuring that one of them will win the 1996 presidential race and be elected leader of the free world.

The duo quickly adapts to the absurdity of American politics, as evidenced by the scene above. If you say one thing the people hate, trying saying the opposite. If they don’t like that, make up some nonsense and move on.

Does that sounds like anyone in the race today? Does that sound like something that just happened YESTERDAY?

The answer is yes.

Yesterday, in an interview with Chris Matthews, Donald Trump said that if abortions were illegal, women who get them should be punished, an insane stance that even the most ardent pro-lifers disagree with.

That uproar was so swift and unanimous that almost immediately Trump reversed what he said.

“If Congress were to pass legislation making abortion illegal and the federal courts upheld this legislation, or any state were permitted to ban abortion under state and federal law, the doctor or any other person performing this illegal act upon a woman would be held legally responsible, not the woman. The woman is a victim in this case as is the life in her womb.”

And miniature American flags for NO ONE.

We should just skip the next 200 days and ask Matt Groening what’s gonna happen.
