Vaping Congressman Spent $1,302 Of Campaign Funds On Video Games

Do you remember Duncan Hunter? He’s the vaping congressman who took a bold stance when a proposed amendment to ban vaping on planes was brought up during a House Transportation Committee meeting. The representative from California took a hefty puff from his e-cigarette to show how safe vaping was. Now the “cool” U.S. Representative is in hot vegetable glycerin and propylene glycol, err I mean in hot water, for allegedly using campaign funds to buy a shitload of video games.

According to Hunter’s year-end campaign finance disclosure for 2015, the Republican spent $1,302 on 68 separate occasions from Steam Games from October 13 to December 16. This charges were labeled as a “personal expense — to be paid back.” And you thought Frank Underwood was the coolest gaming politician.

Now the Federal Election Commission is questioning Rep. Duncan Hunter, R-Alpine, for the unusual spending. The congressman said the charges were initiated by his son.

From the San Diego Tribune:

Hunter’s spokesman, Joe Kasper, said the congressman’s teenage son used his father’s credit card for one game, and then several unauthorized charges resulted after the father tried to close access to the website. Kasper said that Hunter is trying to have the unauthorized charges reversed before repaying his campaign account.

“There won’t be any paying anything back there, pending the outcome of the fraud investigation, depending on how long that takes,” Kasper said.

What’s the point of having kids if you can’t force them to mow the law and blame them for stealing campaign funds? On the plus side, at least Hunter is not one of these preachy politicians rallying against violent video games.

C’mon Federal Election Commission have some sympathy, Hunter is a politician, and can you really expect him to keep track of a budget and maintain responsible spending?
