Explosion Of SpaceX Falcon 9 Rocket Carrying Facebook Satellite Is A Disaster Of Spectacular Proportions (VIDEO)

Earlier today, the SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket exploded on the launch pad at Cape Canaveral. Hours later, there is now video of the explosion and it is terrifying and spectacular at the same time.

The eruption was seen, felt and heard miles away from the launch pad.

SpaceX’s CEO Elon Musk detailed the cause for the explosive failure.

Thursday’s “anomaly” happened during Falcon 9’s test firing. The rocket was not scheduled for liftoff until Saturday, September 3, when it was to put a Facebook satellite into orbit. Sadly, the Amos-6 satellite was inside the rocket when it burst into flames. The satellite was to deliver internet access to Africa.

Facebook’s founder Mark Zuckerberg voiced his disappointment in a statement:

“As I’m here in Africa, I’m deeply disappointed to hear that SpaceX’s launch failure destroyed our satellite that would have provided connectivity to so many entrepreneurs and everyone else across the continent. Fortunately, we have developed other technologies like Aquila that will connect people as well. We remain committed to our mission of connecting everyone, and we will keep working until everyone has the opportunities this satellite would have provided.”

I do not want to be around Musk when he gets that bill from Zuckerberg.
