Just Do It For The Vine

Twitter

In an unexpected turn of events yesterday, Twitter announced that it would be shutting down Vine, the 6-second video social media platform it purchased for $30 million just a few years ago. Immediately following the announcement from Twitter that Vine would be shut down the Internet was flooded with ‘R.I.P. Vine‘ listicles of everyone’s favorite Vines, I even got in on the action myself with this tweet:

The founder of Vine took to Twitter to express his thoughts on the decision to shutter Vine forever:

Everyone began speculating what the ‘Vine Stars’ would do now, all of those social media gurus that had become famous for their 6-second clips on Vine and who have made millions of dollars in advertising while Vine itself failed to ever reach profitability….but in Vine’s darkest hour a hero seems to have emerged, Pornhub.

The website CNET is reporting that Pornhub’s expressed interest in purchasing Vine from Twitter because ‘6 seconds is enough’:

In a letter from Pornhub VP Corey Price to Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey that was shared with CNET, Price lays out the rationale:
“We figure since Twitter has dropped (Vine) and is having significant layoffs, that you and your stakeholders could benefit from a cash infusion from the sale of Vine. Not to mention we would be saving Vine gems like ‘Damn Daniel,’ ‘Awkward Puppets’ and many more.”
Pornhub also promises to “restore Vine to Its NSFW glory,” saying that clips “of porn in six seconds is more than enough time for most people to enjoy themselves.”

I welcome Pornhub taking over Vine. There’s absolutely NO REASON whatsoever that Twitter should shut down Vine just because Twitter can’t figure out how to become profitable…unless Twitter just wants Vine out of the way so people focus more on using Twitter Video (not going to happen). Vine is, without question, the best medium for delivering quick sports clips and someone needs to save this social media platform before it’s too late, so let’s put our faith in Pornhub. Frankly, I’m shocked that the Vine stars haven’t pooled their money together to buy the service because it’s definitely made them enough money over the past few years to afford it if they were to bind together.

Speaking of Pornhub, yesterday they released infographics of the Sexiest Halloween Costumes of 2016 and it’s definitely something you’ll want to see if you haven’t checked that out already!
